Digital Fabrication Job Shadowing Activity

We’re proud to announce the opportunity for a 5 days mobility at Vectorealism FabLab in Milan, Italy.

By applying to this programme you will have the opportunity to overview all the main operations of a 10+ years old FabLab and award-winning innovation studio in the capital of design and fashion, Milan.

Job shadowing activities and teaching sessions will cover all aspects of digital fabrication, starting from design, materials, machine functions and customer management. You will be led by a group of facilitators from Digijeunes plus chief designer and manager of Vectorealism.

The job shadowing activity will let you discover all different aspects of digital fabrication, from hands-on and production tasks to business and job opportunities related to general subjects such as Open Design, Sharing and Circular economy, Upcycling, grassroots innovation, digital prototyping and manufacturing.

The programme is open to anyone between 14 and 24 years of age. It is free to attend and funded by the European commission as part of the Erasmus+ programme.

This job shadowing activity is part of the Jobs of the Future project. For this project we are providing several different mobilities throughout the next two years which will give young people the opportunity to explore a variety of tech occupations, from digital advertising to rapid prototyping and digital fabrication. Each mobility will focus on one of our partner companies and their area of expertise.

WHEN?

Two identical job shadowing activities are foreseen for autumn 2022, the first one will take place from November 7th to November 11th, the second one from November 14th to November 18th.

WHO?

We are searching for individuals aged 14 to 24 who are interested in:

 

  • Developing their skills in digital technologies, problem solving and STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths).

 

  • Developing skills to be able to use technology for social change.

 

  • Developing knowledge on career opportunities around the subjects of Digital Technologies.

 

  • Learning about Digital fabrication, Rapid prototyping, Design.

WHAT?

This job shadowing activity will focus on the following topics:

 

  • Digital fabrication: experimenting computer controlled machines such as laser cutters and 3D printers
  • CAD Design: designing parts to be manufactured at a digital fabrication facility
  • Product Design: designing products based on considerations such as circular economy, open source philosophy, open design.

WHERE?

The programme will be held in Milan, Italy. The hosting venue will be Vectorealism, a digital fabrication and rapid prototyping facility.

TRAINERS

The training will be led by youth practitioners from Digijeunes and by experts (designers, engineers) from Vectorealism

PRACTICALITIES

The programme is open to a total of 8 participants. All costs regarding accommodation, meals, and practical activities are covered by the organizers. We can refund a return trip to Italy within certain limits:

275 for a return trip from France

275 eur for a trip from Latvia

360 eur for a trip from Cyprus

275 eur for a trip from within Romania
