Tiny Sorter adventures at the “Maths en scene” festival

This year, for the Maths en scène festival which took place in October at the Henri Desbals Cultural Centre in Toulouse, we pilot tested the tiny sorter activity with dozens of school pupils. Participants were aged between 9 and 12 years old, they came from local public schools.

For many it was their very first introduction to machine learning and computational thinking. Participants were invited to train the tiny sorter robot to sort marbles based on their color. It was a challenge some times, but pretty much all kids managed to get a taste of what programming an artificial intelligence means.
